Welcome to the Bieszczady region in south-eastern Poland. This is the location of the pearl in the crown of the Nowy Styl Group, the Wood Processing Plant in Rzepedź. Today we would like to invite you on a tour around the plant. As you join us, you will have the opportunity to learn the history behind a certain log. And as you know, some things start with a log.
We are constantly in a rush. We have to push forward, grow, develop, achieve goals and fulfil plans. Our life is a constant change. We keep striving for the better, for the new, for the unknown.
On the other hand, the forest and its trees have been there for centuries, unmoved and silent. Even as we speak, they observe our hasty journey through life. They don’t care about our plans. They just look at the world, aloof and cool. The rustle of their leaves is the only response to our whims. In Poland, when we’re tired of the constant rush, we usually say: “Why don’t we just call it quits and head for Bieszczady?” This means we want to slow down, relish the moment, breathe fresh air, admire the mountains and experience the thrill of putting your feet into a cold mountain stream.
When you’re in Bieszczady, the time slows down. Incidentally, this is also where our pride is: the Wood Processing Plant in Rzepedź. This is where many of our wooden components are pre-processed. We have production plants in a few countries and our Group is present all around the world, but the plants located in the heart of this Polish wilderness are at the heart of our operations. Although we keep growing dynamically and acquire new lines and businesses, we still remember what genuine work-life balance is about. How do we do it? Our sense of balance, but also our love of environment, is rooted right here, in Bieszczady. A few years back we launched the Office Furniture Plant, one of the most innovative, state-of-the-art plants in Europe, with advanced, sustainable technology to support the production process while reducing the use of energy and water as well as waste production.
However, our Wood Processing Plant at Rzepedź has a special place among all our facilities. The village is situated in the midst of the Bieszczady Mountains. This gives us a huge privilege of being close to nature on a daily basis, but also makes us particularly responsible for taking care of it. It would be hard to imagine a better lesson in ecology. It has a huge impact on what we do: how we think about our products and how we make them. We are independent in terms of production, processing all raw materials needed for our operations in our own facilities, but it is wood that teaches us the most about respect for materials. This is why we make sure it comes from trusted sources and is FSC-certified.
We always make sure the raw material comes from trusted sources and has relevant certificates, such as FCS. We secure the wood with S-shaped steel clasps on both ends. The clasps prevent it from splitting before it reaches a further processing stage. Then it is scalded and at this point its colour darkens. We make to most of each log. The remains is commonly referred to as a “pencil”. Rather than discard it, we use it to prepare pallets.
It has a huge impact on what we do: on how we think about our products and how we make them. We are independent in terms of production, processing all raw materials needed for our operations in our own facilities, but it is wood that teaches us the most about respect for materials.
If you want to see the gold from Bieszczady, please visit our stand at the Stockholm Furniture Fair, on 4th-8th February. Apart from furniture, we will also present the genuine raw material. You will find us on stand A21:20.
