Springtime. New energy is coming to offices!

Look out of the window. Spring is there for good, bringing new energy into our life and work. It has also appeared in many office spaces, and it looks like it feels great there.

Nature coming to life

Spring is a beautiful time of the year. After a few cold and dull months, it brings optimism and joy to our lives. The nature is happy too, waking up from winter sleep. Up until now, most of the vegetation outside was dormant. Thankfully, we can have greenery in the office throughout the year. As research by Terrapin Bright Green shows, when people stay in biophilicly designed environments they’re likely to be more productive, have higher levels of wellbeing and enhanced mental health, while improving the financial performance of their employers. Plants and natural materials have a positive influence on our mood, which is why we like to have them around so much. Greenery in the office can take many forms. These may be large green walls, but also smaller plants located close to workstations as well as regeneration and relaxation areas. Any aspect of nature in the office is very welcome.

Plants and natural materials have a positive influence on our mood - we like to have them around.

Think about the colours of spring, and greenery will come to your mind right away. But spring is also about colourful flowers in various shades of yellow, pink, orange and purple. These are very energetic colours. It is therefore a good idea to use them cautiously in office spaces. For example, shades of yellow are often used in offices as they evoke positive associations with sunshine, sand and flowers of spring. Yellow is a gently stimulating colour, but you should be careful with its vivid shades. It will work great in a kitchen or in creative work areas. Also shades of green have a good effect on employees. You might consider using the colour as a detail in workspaces, because looking at green plants and accessories relaxes your eyes and lets them focus on something else than the monitor for a while. People like pastel colours, so they are often used in office spaces. Pastel yellow is said to make remembering things easier, and purple is believed to stimulate your creativity.

Nature coming to life can be short-tempered. Apart from the sunshine and the warmer temperatures, spring brings heavy storms rounded off with a rainbow in the sky. It is the same in the office – brain "storms" are invaluable, as they give birth to interesting ideas created from a synergy effect between employees. It is good to give your office a space that frees ideas in people. Soft poufs and sofas, big boards on the walls, stimulating colours - or quite the opposite, a minimalist interior - all this will give your employees plenty of opportunities to come up with and contribute to new ideas freely.

An office needs spaces for creative teamwork and collaboration.

Sprouting ideas

An office also needs areas where ideas can have good conditions to "germinate". It is good to dedicate some space in your office to creative work, and have items such as project tables or large boards for making mood-boards. Designing an office that will inspire and facilitate creative work is very desirable these days. Because fresh and innovative ideas change the world and bring a breath of fresh air into business, just like the spring does into our lives.

Colours in the office should match the image of the company and its employees, and the specificity of the tasks performed. Well chosen colours can influence employees’ moods, stimulate their creativity and be the perfect background for effective work and communication. The finishes in our new sample book have been selected taking into account the current colour and fabric trends. Finishes are not only about colours, but an all-embracing experience of the texture, shape, and tone which combines the two senses: vision and touch.

Play with colours!
